In this article, we explain what type of internet connection the Brandtrack Box and Digital Signage need to work correctly.
Both the Brandtrack Box and Digital Signage need a stable connection to download and update assigned content. An unstable connection can cause interruptions, delays in content updates, or intermittent disconnections.
Why Is a Good Connection Important?
The device connects periodically to Brandtrack's servers to:
- Download content.
- Update settings.
- Sync changes made on the platform.
- Report operating status.
Recommended Speed
- Minimum speed: 5 Mbps download.
- Recommended speed: 10 Mbps or higher.
- Stable connection with no micro-outages.
Stability is more important than the maximum contracted speed.
Recommended Connection Type
- Ethernet cable connection (preferred, only for the Brandtrack Box).
- Fixed network connection (fiber or broadband).
- Avoid unstable WiFi networks or weak signal.
- Avoid shared mobile networks (hotspots).
Network Stability
To ensure continuous playback:
- The network must not require captive portal authentication.
- It must not block outgoing connections to external servers.
- It must not have restrictive filters that prevent the device from communicating.
In corporate environments, the IT department may need to set up exceptions.
Approximate Data Usage
Data usage varies depending on the assigned content. The device downloads the content and plays it back locally, so it doesn't require constant bandwidth for playback.
Additional Recommendations
- Avoid sharing the network with devices that saturate the bandwidth.
- Don't connect the device to public networks.
- Keep the router up to date.
- Restart the router after prolonged outages.
When Should You Check the Connection?
Check the network if:
- The device isn't updating content.
- Frequent disconnections occur.
- The device doesn't reflect changes made on the platform.
- Recurring outages are detected during operation.
